Andre Ford-Boyd

2023 Bridge Foundation Scholarship Recipient

The 2023 Bridge Foundation Scholarship has been awarded to Eric “Andre” Ford-Boyd from Mallard Creek High School. Andre lost both his parents between the age of 13 and 15, and was raised by his uncle and aunt. Andre’s inspiration was formed with the memory of his parents and the support of his extended family, and allowed him to focus on creating goals to better himself physically, mentally and emotionally. With the help of his adopted family, Andre’s grades improved, his health improved (he lost 80 pounds through strength training and cardio working out with his uncle and cousin) and made a commitment to avoid distraction in order to work towards his dream of becoming a cardiologist. This vision for his future is fully grounded within his mother’s heart complications that led to her untimely passing. Andre recognizes he can provide more to the medical profession by representing those with similar background to himself, whereas he feels there may have been an unintended disconnect within his mother’s care. Andre is heading to North Carolina A&T in the Fall 2023 to start his pre-medical track. The Bridge Foundation is pleased to support Andre on this journey!
